This is kind of a random post… but fuck it… I’m uploading files and bored.
While travelling in Tanzania last month and explaining to someone what I do, the question was asked how I got into reggae/dub, and additionally what was it that kept me drawn to it.
The answer to #1 is simple… while working at a record store in the 80’s I stumbled across Linton Kwesi Johnson’s “Live In Concert” album and was blown away enough to realize I needed to start looking past those Bob Marley albums that I was casually aware of.
#2 is much harder to answer, but recently I’ve been digging out my old Joe Gibbs Disco Mixes (and thanks to VP just got sent a bunch of CD collections also), and I think I can sum it up here… basically on this version of George Nooks ‘Tribal War” (one of my all time favorites)… if I could sell my house, buy a piece of land, and build a house on the space occupied during theĀ 3:45 to 5:30 minute mark of this track… I think that would be the best place to live ever…
